Wiped Film Evaporator Introduction

It differs from traditional distillation by the principle of separation of boiling points, but by the difference in the mean free path of molecular motion of different substances. Using the working principle of molecular distillation, our short-range molecular distillation systems are highly efficient plant essential oil purification equipment for high purity essential oils.

Wiped Film Evaporator Design

Wiped Film Evaporators are horizontal evaporator with wiper basket, gear motors and external condenser.
The vapour nozzle is typically arranged at the upper end of the evaporator in order to facilitate the transfer of the vapours to the external condenser.
Dea offers thin film evaporators from 0.058 to 3 m2 .

Wiped Film Evaporator Parameters

The rotating wiper equally distributes the down flowing liquid feed on the inner side of the wall. The film is about 0,1 to 0,5mm thick depending on the viscosity of the liquid, type of wiper system, rotating speed and liquid throughput. This thin film provides almost no hydrostatic pressure, minimum hold-up and almost no temperature and concentration gradient due to the good radial mixing performance. This provides highest evaporation rates means shortest residence time in the evaporator at lowest temperatures permitting the production of high quality temperature sensitive products. The vapors are mostly guided upwards in a counter current manner to a down coming condenser.
